Talk About Everything
You should be able to talk about everything...
When you're with the right man you'll be able to talk about anything.
Think about that for a moment -- anything.
Mr. Right is not going to be insecure about who you are and who he is.
He's someone who will appreciate the trial and error struggle you went through in order to find him--after all, he went through his own struggle to find you.
The perfect man for you is going to make you feel safe to be yourself.
No subject will be off-limits. Why would either one of you not want to know everything about each other?
Why hide anything from each other?
All those conversations in the years to come -- where you reveal more of who you are -- will keep your relationship interesting and you fascinating. Don't be surprised when you retell a story about yourself -- and he finally "gets it". Even though he's heard it several times before. That's the beauty of discovery:
He will keep "getting" more about you as time goes on.
Of course, it's a two way street.
He has to feel safe being able to talk to you about anything too.
You can't have a double standard about this. He needs a safe haven just like you do. If he tells you about things, experiences and relationships - -before he met you -- don't take it as some kind of personal affront or become jealous.
The poor guy may have had a lot of disappointments and a few broken hearts before he found you. Be grateful he didn't give up looking for you.
Both of you should take on the attitude of honoring the life experiences that led you to each other. By honoring the past, you clear away any obstacles to your future.
When all is said and done and your life adventure together becomes a wonderful source of rich loving memories, what will survive is the depth of your friendship with each other...
And best friends can talk to each other about anything!
